Take Lanes

Comping in REAPER means a lot of clicking: expand lanes, find the good take, drag a split, move to the next phrase. These scripts put the whole loop on the keyboard so your hand never leaves the transport.

The core idea

One action, bound to one key, promotes whatever take sits under the edit cursor. Move the cursor, press the key, move on. Splits happen at the cursor, not at wherever the mouse happened to land, so a comp built this way lands on the beat you were listening to.

What is included

  • Promote take under cursor — the action you will bind and use constantly
  • Cycle lanes up and down — audition without collapsing the view
  • Split and promote — one keystroke for the common case
  • Clean up comp — removes empty lanes once you are happy

Installing

Extract into REAPER/Scripts/Realstore/ and load the actions through Actions > Show action list > Load ReaScript. Or install through ReaPack, which registers every action for you.
